Joseph’s Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Page 1
In March, 2009, I received an order to make a 'Technicolor Dream Coat' similar to the one in Andrew Lloyd Webber's 'Joseph'.
It was for a five year old boy who obsesses about the story.
I was instructed that the item would be kept as an heirloom after he grew out of it.
I decided to give him something he would cherish.
The outside looks quite simple, the plain costume of an Arabian herdsman.

But, on closer inspection, it reveals its secret, the colors which brought Joseph's brothers hatred and jealousy.
It opens to a full circle.
Wait, there's more.
I was to line it with 'gold'.
I didn't have any gold fabric, but I wanted to give it a heart of gold, anyway.
So it becomes a country landscape inside with a glowing sun and a mountainous skyline. The tent of a circus seems to spring out of the foreground.
Welcome and enter the Big Top, everyone. You're in for a fabulous show.
