I was commissioned to reproduce the hat in Rembrandt von Rign's painting, "Old Man in Gorget"

 

 

I did some research and found that the painting was created in 1630.

I found similar hats in woodcuts from the period.

I purchased ostrich feathers and black velvet.

The pin is period, though not Dutch.  It resembles Florentine jewelry and could have been used on a 1630 Dutch hat.
